At the Make It Foundation, our goal is to provide pathways for training and opportunities to underserved groups who could use help breaking out of a disadvantaged life situation. By supporting our community programs and partners, you can help make a difference in the lives of people who need it.
Our Mission
- Build pathways for underserved communities through our community partners to obtain job training, entrepreneurship and employment skills to provide stable income for their families
- Provide scholarships for our target communities to be able to afford training classes at the many maker spaces in Portland
- Raise awareness of maker and fixer communities in Portland to attract more meaningful investment in our community partners
- Grow our endowment to provide scholarships to more individuals every year
Scholarships
Our goals are simple, yet incredibly impacting—Help people in need learn a skill, help create more opportunities to serve more people, and help individuals succeed. We accomplish this through four primary scholarship funds.
The Welch Cabin
The Welch Welch Family bestowed a unique gift upon the Make It Foundation in 2019. The cabin sits atop a beautiful rock cliff over the Kalama River in SW Washington. The twelve acre property straddles the river and is a wonderful retreat center that the Make It Foundation makes available to other nonprofits and corporations for events and meetings. Environmental stewardship and education is of the highest priority at the Welch Cabin Retreat Center.
